The students in Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High have a new teacher: an alien octopus with bizarre powers and unlimited strength, who’s just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth—unless they can kill him first! Meet the would-be assassins of class 3-E: Sugino, who let his grades slip and got kicked off the baseball team. Karma, who’s doing well in his classes but keeps getting suspended for fighting. And Okuda, who lacks both academic and social skills, yet excels at one subject: chemistry. Who has the best chance of winning that reward? Will the deed be accomplished through pity, brute force or poison…? And what chance does their teacher have of repairing his students’ tattered self-esteem?
The story takes place in a class of student killers.
Their mission: to assassinate their teacher. Their teacher is this monster with a smiley face that we see on the cover and his body looks like an octopus. They have to kill him because the monster has destroyed part of the moon and announced that he will destroy the earth in a year. The days of classes are therefore repeated attacks to kill him, but without success because the monster is endowed with superhuman powers (he moves at Mach 20, normal weapons do nothing to him). Why was this class chosen? This is class E, "E-as-in-End". They are separated from the rest of the school, despised by the other students and by the teachers, rejected, humiliated. The monster will turn out to be an excellent teacher who is the only one to consider them as ordinary people, to look them in the face, and therefore to restore their dignity. A double relationship then sets in: on the one hand, the desire to be helped by this rather special teacher in order to find a decent place in society, but also the constant reminder of their assassination mission with the fateful date, the destruction of the earth.
